You will engineer the backend services powering BJAK's insurance and neobanking platforms across Southeast Asia. The team focuses on creating reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure for payments, accounts, and financial products.
This position requires strong ownership of system quality, from latency and observability to data integrity. You will collaborate with product, mobile, and AI teams to deliver features rapidly while maintaining high operational standards.
What you'll do
- Build backend services and APIs for onboarding, payments, cards, and FX flows
- Design reliable systems supporting real transactions and operational workflows
- Integrate with internal systems, payment providers, and third-party platforms
- Ensure backend quality regarding security, latency, and data integrity
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to launch features safely
- Simplify existing systems by automating repeatable processes
What you'll need
- Strong backend engineering experience in production environments
- Solid understanding of APIs, databases, auth, queues, and events
- Experience building services at meaningful scale for real customers
- Strong mindset for debugging, reliability, and security
- Ability to balance speed, correctness, and maintainability
- Fluent English communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, or banking sectors
- Knowledge of KYC, fraud detection, or risk management
- Background in wallet or exchange platforms
