You will engineer the backend services powering BJAK's insurance and neobanking platforms. The team focuses on creating reliable APIs for payments, accounts, and risk flows that scale across Southeast Asia.
This position requires building secure, high-performance systems while collaborating with product, mobile, and AI teams. You will own the quality and reliability of critical financial transactions and operational workflows.
What you'll do
- Build backend services and APIs for payments, accounts, cards, and KYC flows
- Design reliable systems supporting real customer transactions and operational workflows
- Integrate with financial partners, payment providers, AI services, and third-party platforms
- Ensure backend quality regarding security, latency, observability, and data integrity
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to launch features safely and quickly
- Simplify existing flows and automate repeatable processes to improve system efficiency
What you'll need
- Strong backend engineering experience with production systems at scale
- Solid understanding of APIs, databases, authentication, queues, and event-driven architecture
- Proven track record of building services used by real customers or internal operations
- Strong mindset for debugging, reliability, security, and data quality
- Ability to balance speed, correctness, scalability, and maintainability in technical decisions
- Based in Austria with strong English communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, banking, wallets, or fraud prevention
- Knowledge of KYC, risk management, or financial compliance workflows
