BJAK is expanding its financial services platform across Southeast Asia, moving beyond insurance into spending, saving, and investing. This role involves building the backend infrastructure for their AI-driven Neobank application, supporting millions of users.
You will design reliable systems for real-time transactions, operational workflows, and new financial products. The team values engineers who prioritize security, data integrity, and practical trade-offs between speed and scalability.
What you'll do
- Build backend services for onboarding, payments, cards, transfers, and FX
- Design systems supporting real customer transactions and operational workflows
- Integrate with financial partners, payment providers, and AI services
- Ensure backend quality regarding reliability, security, and data integrity
- Collaborate with product and mobile teams to launch features safely
- Simplify flows and automate repeatable processes in existing systems
What you'll need
- Strong backend engineering experience in production environments
- Solid understanding of APIs, databases, auth, queues, and events
- Experience building services at meaningful scale for real customers
- Strong mindset for debugging, reliability, and security
- Ability to balance speed, correctness, and maintainability
- Based in Australia with strong English communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or wallets
- Knowledge of KYC, fraud detection, or risk management flows
