You will engineer backend services and APIs supporting onboarding, payments, cards, and risk flows for BJAK's financial platform. The team focuses on building reliable, secure systems that handle real customer transactions and integrate with various financial partners and AI services.
This position requires strong fundamentals in production engineering, with an emphasis on data integrity, observability, and automation. You will collaborate with product, mobile, and AI teams to launch features while maintaining high standards for security and latency.
What you'll do
- Build backend services and APIs for accounts, payments, transfers, and KYC flows
- Design reliable systems to support real-time customer transactions and operational workflows
- Integrate with internal systems, payment providers, AI services, and third-party platforms
- Ensure backend quality regarding reliability, security, latency, and data integrity
- Collaborate with product, frontend, mobile, and AI teams to launch features safely
- Improve existing systems by automating processes and simplifying complex flows
What you'll need
- Strong backend engineering experience with production systems at scale
- Solid understanding of APIs, databases, authentication, queues, and events
- Experience building services used by real customers or internal operations
- Strong mindset for debugging, reliability, security, and data quality
- Ability to balance speed, correctness, scalability, and maintainability
- Based in the Netherlands with strong English communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or digital wallets
- Knowledge of KYC, fraud detection, or risk management systems
