Join a small engineering team constructing core infrastructure from the ground up for a B2B automotive sourcing platform. You will focus on developing a horizontally scalable, step-based execution engine written in Rust that drives order processing and ETL pipelines.

This role involves designing custom coordination and fault-tolerance mechanisms rather than relying on off-the-shelf orchestration tools. It suits engineers interested in graph theory, type systems, and distributed architecture.

What you'll do

  • Design and build a bespoke distributed graph execution engine in Rust
  • Implement graph executor nodes for third-party integrations
  • Create infrastructure for deployment, observability, and reliability
  • Develop custom coordination and fault-tolerance mechanisms from scratch
  • Maintain logistics and ETL workflows tied to core business operations

What you'll need

  • At least 7 years of backend development experience
  • Minimum 3 years of professional Rust programming experience
  • Strong practical knowledge of distributed systems architecture
  • Familiarity with graph theory, type theory, parsers, or compilers
  • Real-world experience with DevOps practices

Nice to have

  • Previous background in C or C++ development
  • Experience with FoundationDB, TiKV, or distributed databases
  • Knowledge of WASM runtimes
  • Familiarity with low-code tools like n8n or AWS Step Functions
  • Background in logistics or process management systems

Stack

  • Rust
  • WASM
  • FoundationDB
  • TiKV

How you'll work

  • Hybrid in Berlin/Wildau (1 day per week in office)
  • Fully remote for candidates in Europe or LATAM
  • Full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week
  • Requires meaningful overlap with CEST time zone
  • Official employment in Germany or B2B contract elsewhere
