Join Catawiki's engineering team to build and maintain high-scale microservices supporting search, bidding, and logistics for millions of monthly visitors. You will work in small, autonomous groups responsible for the full lifecycle of their services, collaborating closely with product and design colleagues.
This position is part of a proactive talent pipeline for future openings in Portugal. You will contribute to platform innovations while adhering to best practices in code quality and system resilience.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable microservices and features
- Take ownership of service quality, resilience, and maintainability
- Collaborate with designers, product owners, and other engineers
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and efficiency
- Document and advocate for development best practices within the team
- Fix bugs and refactor code to ensure product reliability
- Experiment with new technologies during dedicated Technical Weeks
What you'll need
- 7+ years of software development experience with OOP foundations
- 3+ years working on customer-facing products in e-commerce or SaaS
- Experience designing and deploying high-availability backend services
- Strong understanding of API design, SQL, and relational databases
- Excellent English communication skills for documentation and discussion
- Proactive mindset with ability to identify solutions and take initiative
- Commitment to continuous learning and skill development

How you'll work
