Join the Identity team at Vanta to define how agents act as user proxies and ensure auditable, trustworthy actions. You will design identity primitives that govern autonomous behavior at scale while collaborating with security teams to protect customer data.
This position focuses on setting technical direction for infrastructure growth and driving complex projects across the stack. You will mentor junior engineers and make trade-offs that balance business priorities with a sustainable technical foundation.
What you'll do
- Design identity primitives for safe autonomous agent behavior
- Enforce consistent permission checks across invocation surfaces
- Build attribution models for auditable agent-assisted actions
- Lead complex projects with multiple stakeholders and engineers
- Mentor junior team members and support design reviews
- Collaborate with Security to implement data best practices
- Drive initiatives to improve operational posture and quality
What you'll need
- Industry experience in backend software development
- Strong knowledge of OIDC, SAML, SSO, or RBAC frameworks
- Experience building platform services that scale across teams
- Strong data modeling skills for complex system relationships
- Experience solving distributed systems performance challenges
- Track record of leading technical projects spanning months
- Security-focused mindset with enterprise practice understanding
- Willingness to use AI responsibly to amplify skills
