BJAK is expanding its mobile-first insurance platform into a broader financial ecosystem, including spending, saving, and investing. As a Backend Engineer, you will build the core systems for their AI Finance Agent, creating reliable APIs and workflows that scale across markets and millions of users.
You will collaborate with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing features quickly while ensuring system reliability, security, and compliance for regulated financial products.
What you'll do
- Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Neobank app
- Design systems for user accounts, transactions, and partner integrations
- Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, and data providers
- Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, and investing
- Improve system reliability, observability, security, and performance
- Ensure systems are auditable and ready for regulated financial products
What you'll need
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, and system design
- Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
- Good understanding of security, reliability, and data quality
- Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality, and risk
- Comfortable collaborating with product, mobile, and business teams
- Must be based in the Netherlands
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, or banking
- Background with regulated financial products
