BJAK is expanding its mobile-first insurance platform into a broader financial ecosystem, including savings, investing, and payments. As a Backend Engineer, you will build the core systems for their AI Finance Agent, creating reliable workflows that serve millions of users across multiple markets.
You will collaborate with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing features quickly while ensuring system security and auditability for regulated financial products.
What you'll do
- Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Neobank application
- Design systems for user accounts, transactions, and partner integrations
- Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, and data providers
- Improve system reliability, observability, security, and performance
- Ensure systems are auditable and compliant with financial regulations
- Collaborate with product and mobile teams to deliver customer journeys
What you'll need
- At least 3 years of backend engineering experience
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, and system design
- Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
- Solid understanding of security, reliability, and data quality
- Ability to balance speed, quality, and risk in decision making
- Strong English communication skills for global team collaboration
- Must be currently based in Germany
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, or banking sectors
- Background in building regulated financial products
- Experience handling production systems at scale
