Join the Data team at Carefull, an AI-powered platform protecting older adults from financial fraud. You will design, build, and evaluate detection systems that analyze transactions and user behavior to alert families of potential risks.
This hands-on position requires owning features end-to-end, from researching fraud patterns to deploying production code. You will optimize AI pipelines for accuracy and cost while collaborating with cross-functional teams to address real user needs.
What you'll do
- Design and ship AI-driven detection features from prototype to production
- Build data enrichment pipelines for messy financial transaction data
- Research fraud typologies and translate insights into scalable detection logic
- Create reproducible evaluations including test sets and error analysis
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and deploy fixes
- Optimize AI pipelines for accuracy, latency, and operational cost
- Collaborate with customer-facing teams to understand user requirements
- Apply new developments in LLMs and agents to practical use cases
What you'll need
- Strong Python skills with experience in data pipelines and production systems
- Hands-on experience building production LLM applications using provider SDKs
- Comfort deploying and operating solutions on cloud platforms
- Ability to set up evaluations and analyze precision, recall, and errors
- Proven track record of owning work end-to-end with minimal supervision
- Curiosity about the US financial system and scam mechanisms
- Comfort reasoning about ambiguity and context-dependent scenarios
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS services like Lambda, CDK, Bedrock, and Redshift
- Familiarity with LLM observability tools such as Langfuse or LangSmith
- Background in fraud detection, fintech, or risk and compliance
- Experience handling financial transaction data like ACH, Zelle, or wires
- Prior work with regulated institutions such as banks
- Exposure to elder care or financial vulnerability research
- Background in statistical modeling or anomaly detection beyond LLMs
