Headway is automating insurance administration for mental health providers and expanding into a comprehensive practice management platform. As a Clinical Product Lead, you will own the clinical logic behind risk detection, escalation, and safety protocols across patient-facing surfaces.
You will serve as the primary partner for patient safety in product development, ensuring that AI tools and clinical workflows meet rigorous safety standards. This role requires translating complex clinical concepts into concrete product requirements and evaluating model performance against real-world clinical consequences.
What you'll do
- Define clinical requirements for risk detection and mitigation across portal and chat
- Drive adoption of a shared severity taxonomy and routing model
- Partner with product teams to define safety safeguards for new features
- Audit product surfaces to identify and close patient safety gaps
- Evaluate AI outputs for clinical notes and treatment planning accuracy
- Resolve risk-ownership questions and align platform policies
- Communicate clinical tradeoffs to non-clinical stakeholders clearly
What you'll need
- Independently Licensed Therapist (LPC, LCSW, PhD, or PsyD)
- 3+ years of post-graduate clinical experience
- Experience working within safety or quality systems
- Strong confidence in risk assessment and crisis response
- Ability to translate fuzzy clinical concepts into concrete metrics
- Understanding of AI evaluation metrics like precision and recall
- Comfort working cross-functionally with engineers and product managers
Nice to have
- Experience with AI tooling or machine learning evaluation
- Background in building scalable healthcare platforms
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving clinical AI roadmaps
