Join the Cloud Database Engineering team at Marqeta to support the infrastructure behind billions of annual transactions. You will automate database operations, optimize performance, and build resilient solutions for the company's global card issuing platform.
This position offers the chance to impact technical vision while working in a flexible, remote-first environment. You will collaborate with application teams to modernize designs and minimize incidents through rigorous root cause analysis.
What you'll do
- Automate lifecycle management for AWS Aurora instances
- Design high availability and disaster recovery solutions
- Support multi-AZ and multi-region database architectures
- Modernize database designs for better scalability
- Perform root cause analysis to minimize incidents
- Collaborate with teams on technical vision execution
What you'll need
- 3+ years backend engineering experience plus degree
- Or 5+ years relevant experience without a degree
- Experience with cloud-native databases, preferably AWS
- Proficiency with transactional RDBMS like MySQL or Postgres
- Knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Experience with cloud-based disaster recovery solutions
