  • Python + MuJoCo
  • Computational Neuroscience
  • Digital Twins
  • Equity included

You will develop embodied digital twins of animals, starting with fruit flies, by combining body simulations with connectome-based brain models. Using tools like MuJoCo and existing fly models, you will create virtual environments where these agents perform tasks with biologically realistic behaviors.

What you'll do

  • Simulate Drosophila melanogaster behaviors using existing embodied fly models
  • Create demonstrations of virtual flies performing tasks in virtual environments
  • Customize and iterate models to achieve biologically plausible behaviors
  • Document all code and workflows to ensure reproducibility
  • Build virtual environments and bodies for Drosophila and eventually mice

What you'll need

  • Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries like NumPy
  • Experience with brain or biomechanics simulation tools such as MuJoCo
  • Knowledge of neuroscience, computational biology, or related fields
  • Strong ability to create polished and engaging visualizations
  • Extensive hands-on experience with computational neuroscience

Nice to have

  • Background in Drosophila neuroscience
  • PhD or equivalent qualifications in neuroscience or related field
  • Familiarity with Flybody, Flygym, Brian2, or Gymnasium API
