You will establish ownership of LILT's data transformation layer, ensuring consistent metric definitions across Analytics, LLM surfaces, and internal dashboards. Reporting to the Head of Platform, you will build a new Data sub-team from scratch, starting as a hands-on contributor before hiring a Data Engineer and Senior Data Scientist.
What you'll do
- Implement every metric definition once in dbt for consistency across teams
- Manage pipeline owners, testing, and warehouse costs to reduce spend
- Define warehouse strategy and API exposure with written technical cases
- Hire and mentor a Data Engineer and Senior Data Scientist
- Establish agentic engineering practices for building and reviewing pipelines
- Write and review SQL, dbt, and Python code alongside the team
What you'll need
- 7+ years in data or analytics engineering with 2+ years managing small teams
- Fluent in SQL and Python with experience building production pipelines
- Experience with dbt, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or similar tools
- Proven track record of owning warehouse budgets and reducing costs
- Understanding of B2B SaaS metrics like ARR, ACV, and gross margin
- Daily use of AI tools with ability to verify outputs and document decisions
Nice to have
- Experience standing up a data function from zero or reviving an abandoned one
- Running dbt in production at scale on BigQuery
- Operating ClickHouse in production environments
- Shipping analytics solutions for both cloud and self-hosted setups
