You will enable the data products that drive core insurance decisions at Kin, such as risk pricing and actuarial analysis. By connecting data from systems like Snapsheet, Xactimate, RMS, and Verisk, you will ensure teams have reliable, self-serve metrics. Your work focuses on defining clear metric definitions and improving data quality to support confident business decisions.

What you'll do

  • Identify the underlying business questions behind requests from pricing, underwriting, or claims teams
  • Partner with data engineering to scope, build, and ship necessary data products
  • Connect data across multiple systems including claims stacks and vendor loss modeling tools
  • Proactively build supporting datasets to allow teams to investigate metrics without delay
  • Own the data layer as the single source of truth for core insurance metrics
  • Define precise metric meanings before deployment to ensure consistent financial decisions
  • Improve data quality and instrumentation to build trust in decision-making numbers
  • Translate complex, multi-source data into clear stories and actionable recommendations

What you'll need

  • 2 to 5 years in product management, data analytics, or similar analytical roles
  • Business sense for how data drives decisions, ideally from an analyst background
  • Advanced SQL skills to pull and join data across multiple sources independently
  • Comfort working with modern data stacks such as Databricks and Looker
  • Ability to dig for real questions rather than accepting initial requests at face value
  • Precision in defining metrics that drive pricing or claims decisions
  • Experience using AI tools to increase throughput and prototype ideas quickly
  • Clear communication skills for both technical and business audiences

Nice to have

  • Background in InsurTech or FinTech, specifically in homeowners insurance
  • Familiarity with concepts like loss ratio, premium, underwriting, and catastrophe risk
