As the first dedicated Data Scientist at Melotech, you will transform hard-to-reach data into strategic business decisions. You will work autonomously to identify emerging cultural trends, predict virality, and uncover underserved market categories.
You will collaborate with a backend engineer who manages infrastructure, allowing you to focus on analysis, modeling, and experimentation. Your work will directly influence company direction through trusted dashboards and actionable insights.
What you'll do
- Discover and acquire new data sources using creative scraping techniques beyond standard APIs
- Analyze audience behavior and trends across streaming and social platforms to find growth opportunities
- Prototype and deploy machine learning models on AWS for virality prediction and content analysis
- Design and interpret A/B tests, holdouts, and spend experiments to guide campaign investments
- Own leadership dashboards and investigate metric drivers to ensure data trustworthiness
- Use LLMs and agentic coding tools to accelerate data cleaning, analysis, and reporting workflows
What you'll need
- Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Math or related quantitative field
- Three or more years of hands-on data science experience in fast-paced business environments
- Expert-level proficiency in Python data science frameworks and daily use of SQL
- Proven experience scraping and acquiring raw data from sources beyond standard APIs
- Strong statistical rigor with experience designing A/B tests or causal analyses that influenced decisions
- Track record of deploying models to production and maintaining their performance over time
- Extensive hands-on experience using LLMs and agentic coding tools in data workflows
- Ability to translate statistical findings into actionable steps and create trusted visualizations
