Alpha is a product studio backed by top investors, creating social products like Clubhouse. This role serves as the technical anchor for the data science function, embedded in the Discovery squad to shape how users find content and hosts through machine learning.
What you'll do
- Lead ML and content understanding work for the Discovery squad
- Set standards for metric integrity and pipeline quality across the team
- Own the experimentation framework and evaluate high-stakes analyses
- Mentor senior data scientists and provide technical direction
- Drive strategic opportunity sizing to help leadership prioritize bets
- Manage company-wide top-line metric strategy and forecasting
- Diagnose and fix upstream data pipeline issues independently
What you'll need
- 7+ years of experience as a data scientist
- High fluency in SQL and Python for engineering decisions
- Proven experience shipping ML models into production workflows
- Deep expertise in predictive modeling and experimental design
- Ability to own end-to-end pipeline work including schema design
- Strong communication skills for turning analysis into recommendations
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and setting team agendas
