You will lead the transition from traditional IT administration to a platform and data engineering-centric organization. Your team will build foundational systems and data products that drive business decisions, leveraging AI-driven architectures and headless API designs. You will manage managers across platform engineering, data engineering, and systems administration.
What you'll do
- Lead the shift from IT-admin focus to platform and data engineering
- Own technical architecture and delivery roadmap for business systems
- Manage and mentor engineering managers and direct reports
- Establish engineering standards, workflows, and AI-leveraging practices
- Partner with Product and Success teams to prioritize technical scope
- Act as technical counterpart to vendors and review architecture proposals
- Ensure security, RBAC, and data governance compliance for platforms
What you'll need
- 8+ years in software, platform, or data engineering
- 4+ years managing engineers and engineering managers
- Experience building succession depth in multi-manager organizations
- Strong ownership of CI/CD, code review, and testing disciplines
- Fluency in server-side JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js
- Experience with serverless AWS environments and event-based architectures
- Deep knowledge of REST/GraphQL APIs, OAuth, and JWT strategies
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, dbt, and ETL pipeline orchestration
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-centric engineering workflows and autonomous agents
- Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and graph databases
- Track record managing vendors on complex platform builds
- Architectural experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, or Marketo
