As the single engineering DRI for Commerce, you will own the technical vision and execution for the end-to-end buying experience. This includes managing teams responsible for catalog, pricing, promotions, payments, and checkout infrastructure.
You will partner with product and design leaders to deliver a scalable, reliable platform that supports millions of members. The position involves driving an AI-first engineering culture and ensuring strict compliance for financial transactions.
What you'll do
- Lead and coach engineering managers and teams to foster accountability and innovation
- Own technical vision and strategy for catalog, pricing, payments, and checkout
- Drive the transition to a rich, durable catalog domain model
- Define engineering roadmaps balancing innovation, reliability, and scalability
- Enforce clear domain boundaries via APIs and events instead of direct database access
- Lead the shift toward an AI-first engineering culture and spec-driven development
- Oversee architecture for security, compliance, and high-throughput performance
- Mentor engineering leaders and manage staffing and organizational strategy
What you'll need
- 12+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading multiple teams
- Experience leading cross-functional product engineering teams
- Background in health tech, e-commerce, or subscription platforms preferred
- Strong knowledge of Node.js, GraphQL, React, TypeScript, AWS, and Kubernetes
- Expertise in building secure systems for clinical or health-related data
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, labs, wearables, and fulfillment data
- Ability to translate technical strategies for executive stakeholders
- Proven track record in recruiting and developing high-performing talent
