Join Havoc to build perception systems that enable autonomous surface vessels to sense and act in complex, contested maritime environments. You will own end-to-end pipelines, focusing on high-reliability deployment and optimization rather than just model training.

This position requires squeezing maximum performance from embedded AI systems using C++ and Python. Your work will directly impact mission success by ensuring robust situational awareness for hardware operating at sea.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end perception pipelines deployed to operational autonomous systems
  • Design and train vision models for object detection and tracking in maritime settings
  • Fuse multi-modal data from cameras, radar, and lidar into unified outputs
  • Optimize inference latency and throughput on edge hardware using quantization
  • Develop and validate low-level sensor drivers for high-integrity data pipelines
  • Define metrics to monitor system health and investigate perception failures
  • Partner with operators to translate field challenges into engineering solutions

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field
  • 3+ years developing computer vision systems in C++ and/or Python on Linux
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Hands-on work with large vision models such as ViT, CLIP, or SAM
  • Proficiency with NVIDIA Triton, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, or similar tools
  • Experience implementing sensor fusion across heterogeneous modalities
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for U.S. security clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience deploying perception on embedded platforms like Jetson or FPGA
  • Familiarity with maritime or aerial sensor environments
  • Knowledge of autonomy frameworks such as ROS2 or MOOS-IvP
  • Experience with safety-critical or real-time systems
  • Familiarity with military systems and defense acquisition processes

What you get

  • 100% employer-paid health insurance
  • Dental and vision coverage for employees and families
  • Employer-paid life insurance
  • 401k program with matching contributions
  • Unlimited PTO with enforced two-week minimum
  • Equity package included
  • Work from home office stipend
