You will define the technical vision for the configuration and enrollment core, ensuring scalability and reliability for enterprise carrier partners. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will manage a group of Engineering Managers and roughly 20–30 engineers across multiple teams.
The role requires deep expertise in distributed systems and a strong commitment to operational excellence. You will drive the adoption of AI-augmented development practices while maintaining high standards for quality in a regulated industry.
What you'll do
- Define technical vision for configuration and enrollment platform core
- Provide architectural oversight for event-sourced domain services
- Lead cross-team initiatives and resolve ownership ambiguities
- Own delivery commitments and incident posture for carrier partners
- Mentor Engineering Managers and build leadership bench strength
- Drive adoption of AI development tooling and agentic engineering
- Establish standards for AI-generated code to reduce technical debt
- Manage hiring funnel and performance calibration for the organization
What you'll need
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Extensive experience with PostgreSQL schema design and query performance
- Strong background in Golang and/or Python backend services
- Experience with API design using gRPC, REST, and async messaging
- Proven ability to design scalable automated testing strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
Nice to have
- Experience in life insurance or other regulated industries
- Background delivering implementations for enterprise partners
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with frontend composition layers and data platforms
