As BJAK scales its technology products across Southeast Asia, the Engineering Lead will own technical execution for major systems. You will design scalable architectures, write code, and guide engineering initiatives from concept to production while raising quality standards.
This position requires strong leadership in distributed environments, focusing on solving complex engineering problems and mentoring team members. You will collaborate with colleagues worldwide to deliver reliable backend, frontend, and infrastructure solutions.
What you'll do
- Own technical design and execution for major products and systems
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, and database architectures
- Write code, prototype, review, and debug alongside the team
- Make architecture trade-offs balancing speed, cost, and reliability
- Translate ambiguous product needs into clear technical plans
- Improve engineering quality via testing, security, and observability
- Lead critical initiatives and mentor engineers across teams
What you'll need
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, or distributed systems
- Strong skills in system design for high-scale environments
- Proven ability to remain hands-on with coding tasks
- Track record of leading projects from design to production
- Ability to make sound technical trade-offs and solve complex problems
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration
