Lead the Prepaid Cards team, expanding a major catalog category with new card types and global launches. You will shape the roadmap and processes while reporting to the Director of Engineering in a culture that prioritizes written communication over meetings.
What you'll do
- Coach engineers through regular feedback and developmental coaching
- Set technical direction while ensuring engineers own their decisions
- Partner with product and design to scope projects based on goals
- Coordinate dependencies and communicate risks across teams
- Improve team workflows by addressing friction in planning and tooling
What you'll need
- 8+ years in software engineering with 2+ years in leadership
- Commitment to developing people with clear, actionable feedback
- Strong technical judgment to evaluate tradeoffs and approaches
- Clear communication skills tailored to different audiences
- Ability to delegate effectively without becoming a bottleneck
- Business sense to weigh priorities against customer needs
- Heavy use of AI in work and accountability for output quality
Nice to have
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, or React
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL and Google Cloud
