BJAK is expanding its mobile-first insurance and financial platform across Southeast Asia. As an Engineering Manager, you will guide a high-performing team of frontend, backend, and full-stack engineers. You will balance technical excellence with rapid delivery, ensuring systems scale reliably for millions of users while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
What you'll do
- Lead and manage frontend, backend, and full-stack engineering teams
- Drive technical architecture and engineering decisions for scalable systems
- Ensure rapid delivery without compromising reliability or code quality
- Collaborate with product, design, and AI teams to clarify technical execution
- Set standards for testing, observability, security, and system design
- Coach engineers through feedback, performance management, and mentorship
- Monitor production systems and resolve incidents to prevent recurrence
- Improve engineering processes, tooling, and automation for efficiency
What you'll need
- Strong software engineering background with production system experience
- Proven experience leading or managing software engineering teams
- Technical depth in backend, frontend, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure
- Ability to make sound architectural trade-offs balancing speed and scale
- Track record of taking products from idea through launch to production
- Comfortable reviewing designs and debugging complex production issues
- Strong people leadership skills for coaching and team building
- Product sense to connect engineering work to business outcomes
- Ability to work effectively with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration
