As the first hire for this new team, you will define the developer experience strategy and build the group from scratch. You will balance hands-on technical work with leadership, focusing on creating a 'golden path' for service deployment and standardizing AI coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor.
What you'll do
- Hire and build the initial Developer Experience engineering team
- Define and maintain deployment templates and CI/CD patterns
- Standardize usage of AI-assisted coding tools across the company
- Track metrics like golden path adoption and deployment lead time
- Make architectural decisions while remaining hands-on with code
- Ensure security best practices are integrated into platform design
What you'll need
- At least 4 years of software development experience with Python
- Minimum 2 years of experience in engineering leadership or management
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, including cluster APIs and RBAC
- Experience building internal developer portals or CI/CD systems
- Ability to read Java/Kotlin stack traces and debug configuration issues
- Fluent in English with strong communication skills
- Experience hiring engineers and building teams from scratch
Nice to have
- Experience with Go programming language
- Background in fintech or regulated environments like PCI DSS
- Familiarity with JVM ecosystems
