You will take full ownership of a specific domain within Lago’s engineering organization, balancing technical contribution with squad coordination. Your focus includes shipping features, maintaining production health, and ensuring the team delivers high-quality software efficiently.
This position requires close collaboration with Product managers and Staff Engineers to define architecture and scope work. You will stay hands-on with code while unblocking engineers and driving the squad’s roadmap execution.
What you'll do
- Share technical authority and drive architecture decisions with Staff Engineers
- Contribute to critical paths through coding, prototyping, and code reviews
- Own the squad's quarterly roadmap execution and sprint planning
- Act as the primary engineering contact for Product feature scoping
- Monitor dashboards and resolve production incidents within SLA targets
- Coordinate onboarding and provide daily feedback to squad members
- Track DORA metrics and improve engineering processes and quality standards
What you'll need
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience
- Two to three years in a Squad Lead or Tech Lead role
- Strong command of backend systems and distributed architectures
- Recent professional experience with Ruby on Rails codebases
- Proven track record of owning production environments and incident response
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional alignment
Nice to have
- Experience in billing, fintech, or usage-based pricing infrastructure
- Familiarity with DORA metrics and engineering effectiveness frameworks
- Background in contributing to or working within open-source projects
- Exposure to developer tooling or API-first product companies
