Join the Get Discovered team at Jimdo, an AI-powered platform helping solopreneurs build successful businesses. As an Expert Backend Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader, driving architecture, system design, and engineering excellence across backend and data layers.
This individual contributor role requires deep backend expertise and the ability to contribute meaningfully to frontend work using React and TypeScript. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end customer value and shape the future of AI-first software development.
What you'll do
- Design and evolve scalable, reliable systems across frontend, backend, and data layers
- Lead architectural decisions and define engineering standards via ADRs
- Own complex technical initiatives from business goals to technical roadmaps
- Contribute to frontend implementation and technical discussions when needed
- Mentor engineers and elevate technical excellence through code reviews
- Champion AI-assisted engineering workflows to improve productivity
- Drive improvements in testing, CI/CD, observability, and reliability
- Manage technical dependencies with external vendors and partners
What you'll need
- 8+ years of engineering experience in product-led environments
- Experience operating at technical lead, staff, or principal level
- Deep backend expertise with Kotlin, Java, or Node.js
- Strong experience designing APIs, distributed systems, and integrations
- Solid frontend capability with React and TypeScript
- Proven track record leading large-scale architectural initiatives
- Deep understanding of testing strategies, CI/CD, and observability
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools like Cursor or Claude
- Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor engineers
