Join the Forward Deployed Data Scientist team at Empirical Security to develop next-generation vulnerability models using ground-truth telemetry. You will work side-by-side with customers to understand their security challenges, architect data solutions, and provide actionable insights for cloud and application security environments.
The role bridges the gap between customer needs and modeling teams, ensuring data quality and pipeline reliability while helping organizations prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities effectively.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to operationalize vulnerability models
- Lead discovery and prioritization of customer security data sources
- Apply exposure-management expertise to support actionable use cases
- Partner with engineering to design and validate secure data ingestion pipelines
- Perform data analysis to diagnose issues and quantify impact on model accuracy
- Define and maintain technical documentation including integration guides and runbooks
- Collect, clean, explore, and normalize various security data sources
- Stay current on exposure-management practices and attacker tradecraft
What you'll need
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, APIs, and version control systems like Git
- Fluency in enterprise security engineering and reference architectures
- Expertise in exposure and vulnerability management workflows
- Skills in security data integration, normalization, and quality assessment
- Strong technical communication skills for customer-facing interactions
- Working knowledge of security telemetry systems such as EDR and IAM
- Pragmatic analytics capability with basic statistical understanding
- Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements for engineering
