As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work directly alongside customer data engineering and science teams to connect Chalk’s platform to their unique infrastructure. You will serve as the subject matter expert, building efficient ML systems and implementing new capabilities that later become part of the core product.
This role requires close collaboration with internal Engineering and Sales teams to support pre-sales and post-sales activities. You will help shape the platform by identifying customer needs and delivering solutions for high-impact use cases like fraud prevention and cancer detection.
What you'll do
- Write code across the codebase to implement Chalk technology for customers
- Integrate Chalk infrastructure into diverse customer environments
- Design and ship new features based on discovered customer needs
- Act as primary technical contact during pre-sales and onboarding
- Recommend product enhancements as customer businesses evolve
- Assist in interviewing and growing the Engineering team
What you'll need
- Technical background in software engineering or ML model building
- Four or more years of professional backend engineering experience
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice to have
- Experience working with ML or data products
- Understanding of Machine Learning Ops and infrastructure
- Previous forward-deployed engineering experience in a startup
- Experience collaborating closely with sales teams
