As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Chalk, you will work directly with customer data and machine learning teams to connect the Chalk platform to their unique infrastructure. You will serve as the subject matter expert, implementing solutions and building new capabilities that eventually become part of the core product.
This position requires close collaboration with engineering and sales teams to support pre-sales and post-sales activities. You will help power critical use cases such as fraud prevention and cancer detection while contributing to the growth of the engineering team.
What you'll do
- Write code across the codebase to implement Chalk technology for customers
- Integrate Chalk infrastructure into diverse customer environments
- Discover customer needs and ship new features to address them
- Act as primary technical contact during pre-sales and onboarding
- Recommend new products as customer business requirements evolve
- Assist in interviewing and growing the Engineering team
What you'll need
- 4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Technical background in writing software or building ML models
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams
Nice to have
- Experience working closely with sales teams and customers
- Previous work with ML or data products and services
- Understanding of Machine Learning Ops and infrastructure
- Prior experience as a forward-deployed engineer in a startup
