As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Fonio, you work at the intersection of product development and customer implementation. You translate client requirements into robust AI setups, managing integrations, automation, and live deployments.
You collaborate closely with engineering and go-to-market teams to ensure fast, stable, and repeatable deployments. Your work directly impacts how thousands of customers use Fonio’s AI speech agents.
What you'll do
- Translate customer requirements into concrete implementation plans
- Build and roll out fonio setups including workflows and prompts
- Implement integrations with third-party systems via APIs and webhooks
- Develop glue code and small features to address specific customer cases
- Debug production issues involving calls, flows, and edge cases
- Create reusable templates and playbooks to scale deployments
- Provide prioritized product feedback based on customer pain points
What you'll need
- Solid coding skills with ability to implement independently
- Strong understanding of AI systems, LLMs, and prompting strategies
- Experience translating complex processes into testable workflows
- Proficiency with APIs, webhooks, authentication, and integration patterns
- Basic cloud knowledge for deployments and production debugging
- Pragmatic approach focused on speed, stability, and iteration
- Native-level German and fluent English communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience with Voice/Telephony systems
- Familiarity with n8n automation tools
- Knowledge of TypeScript, Python, or SQL
- Understanding of monitoring, tracing, and GDPR compliance
