You will lead engineering efforts for a startup developing applied AI solutions for enterprise software. This role combines technical leadership, including architecture and ML strategy, with hands-on coding and managing a small team of engineers.
What you'll do
- Build and lead a pod of three to four engineers, handling hiring and growth
- Own platform architecture and make infrastructure decisions with business impact
- Set engineering standards for AI-assisted development and release practices
- Lead technical designs and implement initial versions of new initiatives
- Evaluate applied ML research for suitability in production systems
- Partner with leadership to shape product roadmap and model strategy
What you'll need
- 5 to 8 years of engineering experience, or 4 to 5 for exceptional candidates
- Experience training and deploying machine learning models in production
- End-to-end ownership of technical architecture and build-versus-buy tradeoffs
- Experience setting engineering standards while continuing to code
- Strong applied ML judgment across classical methods and transformers
- Recent experience shipping production software and using AI coding agents
