Fieldguide builds software that automates work for advisory, audit, and tax practitioners at major CPA firms. As Head of Deployed Engineering, you will start as a player-coach, writing production code for complex customer deployments while hiring and mentoring a team of engineers. You will bridge the gap between custom client solutions and reusable platform features, working closely with Product and Engineering leadership.
What you'll do
- Lead technical delivery for large enterprise customers from scoping to production
- Write production code for agents, integrations, and tools alongside the team
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to partners, CIOs, and audit leaders
- Hire, coach, and grow engineers who can build and work with customers
- Create playbooks and metrics to make deployments repeatable and scalable
- Identify patterns in field work to turn custom solutions into platform features
What you'll need
- 8+ years of leadership experience in forward deployed or solutions engineering
- Recent experience writing production software and desire to keep coding
- Proven track record of leading or mentoring engineers from an early stage
- Comfort presenting to senior stakeholders in regulated or complex environments
- Ability to balance building for individual customers versus the broader platform
- Interest in applying AI agents to high-stakes professional workflows
Nice to have
- Experience at a Big 4 firm or major consulting company like Accenture or McKinsey
- Knowledge of audit, accounting, risk management, or compliance processes
- Experience deploying LLM or agent-based systems in production environments
