Kraken is consolidating its multiple matching engines and APIs into one interface-agnostic exchange stack. As Head of Exchange Infrastructure, you will own the product vision for the core layer that serves every Kraken product, including spot, derivatives, and staking.
You will lead a team of four to five product managers, acting as a player-coach who writes specs and sets roadmaps. The goal is to build a unified platform that improves latency, throughput, and resiliency while enabling seamless trading across all asset classes.
What you'll do
- Own product vision for matching engine, custody, algo engine, and API engine
- Lead consolidation of multiple engines into one unified exchange stack
- Manage and mentor a team of four to five product managers
- Define success metrics like p99 latency, throughput, and uptime
- Partner with engineering to sequence migrations without market disruption
- Collaborate with Risk and Credit teams to unify client accounts
- Align cross-functional teams around the exchange strategy
What you'll need
- Senior product leader in exchange, trading, or high-performance platforms
- Experience managing and developing product managers
- Willingness to act as player-coach and write specs directly
- Strong understanding of matching engine and market data architecture
- Ability to distinguish true platforms from bespoke builds
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Passion for crypto markets and infrastructure building
Nice to have
- Engineering background with experience building high-performance systems
- Experience across both spot and derivatives venues
- Prior time at a crypto exchange with comparable scale and uptime
- Track record of interlocking platform roadmaps with adjacent orgs
