Lead the design strategy for Amplitude’s AI-empowered product suite while managing a team of 15 designers. You will balance high-speed shipping with visual coherence, acting as a player-coach who stays deeply involved in UX puzzles and quality standards.
The role requires defining how AI agents and humans collaborate in workflows. You will hire, mentor, and retain talent while ensuring the design output meets high craft standards without becoming a bottleneck for autonomous product pods.
What you'll do
- Hire, grow, and retain a high-performing design team of 15 people
- Drive design strategy for Core Amplitude, Statsig, and Wave products
- Elevate product quality through direct feedback and pairing on UX challenges
- Set clear visual standards to prevent quality erosion in AI-driven shipping
- Advocate for customer needs in leadership conversations and product decisions
- Maintain coherence across products without slowing down autonomous pods
What you'll need
- Experience managing senior independent IC designers and earning their respect
- Proven track record of shipping products that impact business metrics quickly
- Ability to create structure within messy, high-growth organizations
- Experience shipping AI-native experiences and using AI tools in daily practice
- Portfolio demonstrating both systems-level thinking and pixel-level craft
- Deep involvement in production details and edge cases rather than pure delegation
Nice to have
- Experience designing for both technical and non-technical user bases
- Background in Analytics, Experimentation, or Developer tools sectors
