As the inaugural security leader, you will build and define the security function from the ground up. You will partner closely with engineering to secure production infrastructure and code while managing risks associated with AI tooling and rapid growth.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end security posture including access, identity, and SecOps
- Assess gaps and prioritize high-leverage security improvements
- Lead incident response to ensure breaches are small and contained
- Drive cultural shift by introducing controls incrementally
- Manage AI-security risks to enable safe tool adoption
- Define staffing needs and hire future security team members
What you'll need
- Hands-on experience as an early security hire at a scaling company
- Deep expertise in product security, SecOps, or identity management
- Engineering mindset with ability to read Ruby and TypeScript code
- Strong judgment to balance risk against business needs
- Ability to influence teams through collaboration rather than mandates
Nice to have
- Experience building or co-building a small security team
- Background in fintech, payments, or regulated industries
