Join the team behind HTS Assist, Hopper's agentic AI assistant for travel. You will own the voice and real-time layers end-to-end while contributing to web interfaces and backend services. The team is small and senior, offering broad ownership and a direct impact on customer experience.
What you'll do
- Own the voice channel including telephony integrations and speech pipelines
- Build web chat front ends in React and TypeScript
- Develop backend services using Scala and Python on GCP
- Design multi-tenant architecture serving multiple partners via configuration
- Implement safety guardrails and PII redaction for compliance
- Maintain system health through observability and incident response
- Mentor team members and conduct code and architecture reviews
What you'll need
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with senior ownership
- Experience with real-time systems like WebRTC, SIP or streaming media
- Strong skills in React, TypeScript, and backend languages like Scala or Python
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS
- Track record in building RESTful APIs and microservices
- Comfortable using AI coding tools as part of daily workflow
- Mindset focused on SLAs, observability and on-call rotations
Nice to have
- Experience with conversational AI or LLM orchestration
- Familiarity with speech tech like Deepgram, ElevenLabs or Whisper
- Knowledge of CPaaS platforms such as Twilio or Amazon Connect
- Background in building customer service or contact center tools
- Familiarity with travel industry technologies like PSS or GDS
