Join FAR.AI as the first dedicated IT & Security Manager, responsible for keeping the organization running reliably and securely during a period of growth. You will own core internal systems, including accounts, devices, and office networks, while partnering with research and operations teams to embed security into their workflows.

This role requires a security-minded engineer who prioritizes systems that withstand pressure over those that merely pass audits. You will address known security gaps, implement self-serve infrastructure, and eventually hire and manage an in-person IT Coordinator.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end internal systems including accounts, devices, and identity management
  • Manage onboarding, offboarding, and daily support for a growing team
  • Oversee the FAR.Labs office network and its underlying security posture
  • Remediate security gaps focusing on access controls and endpoint hardening
  • Design self-serve processes to reduce manual operational work
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive secure AI adoption
  • Hire, manage, and develop an in-person IT Coordinator

What you'll need

  • Experience owning IT and security at a technical org of 30-150 people
  • Proven ability to build IT functions from scratch without existing teams
  • Comfortable using terminal and coding for automation tasks
  • Hands-on security experience driven by specific threat models
  • Implemented core identity and device infrastructure including MDM and SSO
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Regular use of LLMs in professional workflow

Nice to have

  • Interest or background in AI safety and security
  • Experience hiring or mentoring junior teammates
  • Personal engagement with security via home labs or CTF competitions
  • Experience obtaining SOC 2 Type 2 or complying with GDPR
  • Background in startups, nimble nonprofits, or research organizations

How you'll work

  • Fully remote position for US-based employees
  • Occasional travel to Berkeley office for team days
  • Report directly to the COO
  • Collaborate closely with Head of Research Acceleration

What you get

  • 401(k) plan with up to 2% employer match
  • 25 days paid time off plus 10 days sick leave annually
  • Paid bereavement, family, medical, and pregnancy disability leave
  • Work computer and WFH stipend provided
  • Catered lunches and dinners at Berkeley office
