As the Jailbreaking Lead, you will own the core technical engine of FAR.AI's red team. You will personally develop universal jailbreaks against heavily defended models, chain novel attack techniques, and mentor other researchers. The role requires spending most of your time hands-on, breaking models in high-stakes domains like CBRN and cyber security.
What you'll do
- Develop universal jailbreaks for closed and open-weight frontier models
- Dismantle defense-in-depth stacks by chaining attack techniques
- Invent new attack classes when existing methods fail
- Mentor individual contributors on attack craft and rigor
- Collaborate with labs and governments to implement mitigations
- Shape the jailbreaking research agenda with leadership
What you'll need
- Track record of finding high-severity vulnerabilities in AI systems
- Deep hands-on experience with modern frontier model defenses
- Understanding of LLM architectures, training, and failure modes
- Experience with black-box optimization or adversarial ML
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Strong technical judgment and communication skills
Nice to have
- Prior collaboration with AI labs or government safety institutes
- Background in top CTF teams or offensive security research
- Published work in AI safety, security, or robustness
- Experience mentoring technical staff or leading small teams
- Ability to communicate findings to non-technical policymakers
