Join Langfuse, now part of ClickHouse, to build the backend infrastructure that processes terabytes of AI tracing data daily. You will own the ingestion pipeline, optimize database queries for instant dashboard loading, and ensure the platform runs efficiently from single Docker setups to enterprise Helm deployments.
This position offers direct access to ClickHouse database engineers and the opportunity to shape core abstractions for data-heavy features. You will work in a small, accountable team where your contributions to open-source software are immediately visible and impactful.
What you'll do
- Own and optimize the ingestion pipeline for throughput, latency, and cost efficiency
- Design ClickHouse schemas and tune batch inserts for analytical query performance
- Build infrastructure-heavy features like asynchronous post-processing and alerting
- Run load tests against production data to validate schema changes and optimizations
- Support self-hosting setups ranging from Docker Compose to enterprise Helm charts
- Plan infrastructure scalability for future product directions like agent observability
What you'll need
- Strong backend engineering skills with focus on distributed systems
- Experience with analytical databases or high-throughput event processing
- Proficiency in reading and writing TypeScript and SQL
- Ability to organize work independently and make strong technical decisions
- Interest in open source software and user scaling challenges
- Comfortable working in a small, highly accountable team
- CS or quantitative degree preferred
Nice to have
- Direct experience with ClickHouse or other OLAP databases
- Background in building data-intensive systems at scale
- Previous experience as a founder
- Familiarity with observability infrastructure
