This position serves as the technical lead for enterprise data protection, backup, and recovery solutions supporting mission-critical federal systems. You will guide a team of engineers while ensuring the confidentiality and availability of data across large-scale virtualized environments.
What you'll do
- Lead a team of six Data Protection Engineers for backup and recovery operations
- Design and maintain enterprise data protection solutions using Commvault
- Manage protection strategies for virtualized workloads in on-premises data centers
- Support migration from legacy technologies like Avamar to Commvault
- Conduct disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution activities
- Develop metrics and executive reports on backup compliance and performance
- Respond to incidents and perform root cause analysis for data protection systems
- Ensure compliance with federal security requirements and data handling regulations
What you'll need
- Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance is mandatory
- Minimum eight years of experience in enterprise data protection and backup
- Three years of experience in a technical lead or team leadership capacity
- Active Commvault Certification required
- Extensive experience with Commvault in large virtualized on-premises infrastructures
- Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere administration and data protection integration
- Experience with Windows and Linux server administration
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Nice to have
- Experience with Avamar administration and migration
- Knowledge of hybrid or cloud-based backup and recovery solutions
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or similar automation technologies
- Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or VMware Certified Professional
