BJAK is expanding beyond its insurance platform to help users manage spending, saving, and investing. This Lead Engineer role focuses on building next-generation financial products with a specific emphasis on an AI-native email app.
You will take technical ownership of complex systems, balancing architecture decisions with hands-on coding. The position requires guiding other engineers, driving initiatives from idea to production, and maintaining high standards for code quality and reliability.
What you'll do
- Lead technical design and execution of major engineering initiatives
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, and infrastructure systems
- Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping, and debugging
- Make architecture decisions balancing speed and reliability
- Mentor engineers and strengthen team technical capability
- Review code and provide actionable feedback to peers
- Monitor production systems and resolve root causes of incidents
- Collaborate with product, design, and AI teams to ship features
What you'll need
- Strong background in building and shipping production systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, or distributed systems
- Proven experience leading major engineering projects
- Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking full ownership
- Willingness to remain hands-on with code and reviews
- Strong product sense linking tech to business outcomes
- Fluent English communication for global collaboration
