BJAK is expanding beyond its leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia to help users manage spending, saving, and investing. As a Lead Engineer, you will take technical ownership of complex products, balancing architecture decisions with hands-on implementation.
You will guide the engineering team by designing reliable systems, reviewing code, and solving difficult production problems. The role requires close collaboration with product, design, and AI teams to ship high-quality features quickly while maintaining high standards for security and observability.
What you'll do
- Lead technical design and execution for major products and engineering initiatives
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, database, and infrastructure systems
- Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping, debugging, and code reviews
- Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, and reliability
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
- Monitor production systems and resolve incidents to improve reliability
- Collaborate with product and AI teams to deliver high-quality solutions
What you'll need
- Strong background in building and shipping production software systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure
- Proven experience providing technical leadership on major engineering projects
- Strong system design skills for complex or high-scale applications
- Willingness to stay hands-on with coding and debugging
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to cross-functional teams
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration
