BJAK is expanding beyond its leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia to include spending, saving, and investing tools. As a Lead Engineer, you will take technical ownership of complex products, balancing architecture decisions with hands-on implementation.
You will guide engineering initiatives from idea to production, ensuring high standards for code quality, reliability, and scalability. The role requires close collaboration with product, design, and AI teams to ship high-quality financial applications globally.
What you'll do
- Lead technical design and execution for major products and features
- Design scalable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, and infrastructure
- Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping, and debugging
- Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, and reliability
- Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capability across the team
- Review technical designs and provide actionable feedback to peers
- Monitor production systems and resolve incidents to improve reliability
What you'll need
- Strong background in building and shipping production software systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure
- Proven experience providing technical leadership on major engineering projects
- Strong system design skills for complex or high-scale environments
- Willingness to remain hands-on with coding and code reviews
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to cross-functional teams
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking ownership end-to-end
