BJAK is expanding its mobile-first insurance and financial services platform across Southeast Asia. As a Lead Engineer, you will take technical ownership of major initiatives, guiding the team from idea to production while maintaining high engineering standards.
This position requires a leader who remains deeply involved in coding and system design. You will work with distributed teams to build scalable, reliable systems that help users manage their money effectively.
What you'll do
- Lead technical design and execution for major products and features
- Design scalable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, and infrastructure
- Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping, and debugging
- Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, and reliability
- Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capability across the team
- Review technical designs and provide actionable feedback to peers
- Monitor production systems and resolve root causes of incidents
- Improve engineering tooling and automation to increase team velocity
What you'll need
- Strong background in building and shipping production software systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure
- Proven experience leading major engineering projects or teams
- Strong system design skills for complex or high-scale applications
- Willingness to remain hands-on with coding and code reviews
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to cross-functional teams
- Strong product sense connecting tech decisions to business outcomes
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking full ownership
