BJAK is expanding its mobile-first insurance and financial platform across Southeast Asia. As a Lead Engineer, you will balance architecture decisions with hands-on implementation, guiding the team from idea to production while ensuring high code quality and system reliability.
What you'll do
- Lead technical design and execution for major products and initiatives
- Design scalable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, and infrastructure
- Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping, and debugging
- Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, and reliability
- Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capabilities across the team
- Review technical designs and provide actionable feedback to peers
- Monitor production systems and resolve root causes of incidents
- Improve engineering tooling and automation to increase team velocity
What you'll need
- Strong background in building and shipping production systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, or cloud
- Proven experience leading major engineering projects or teams
- Strong system design skills for complex or high-scale environments
- Willingness to remain hands-on with coding and code reviews
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to cross-functional teams
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking full ownership
- Strong English communication skills for global collaboration
