System Dynamics builds DYNAMIC 3i, an ERP solution for distribution and manufacturing hosted primarily on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. As the Lead Engineer, you will serve as a player-coach, making key technical decisions while actively contributing to code and infrastructure.
The role involves transforming engineering practices by introducing version control, automated testing, and AI-assisted development tools. You will guide the migration from on-premise setups to the cloud and modernize legacy applications.
What you'll do
- Make final decisions on architecture, infrastructure, releases, and priorities
- Coach existing team members and hire new staff to fill skill gaps
- Manage OCI compute, databases, VPNs, backups, and disaster recovery
- Modernize the release pipeline from ticket to customer update
- Migrate schema and PL/SQL to Git with automated migrations
- Introduce isolated dev environments, automated tests, and CI gates
- Implement coding agents and AI tools for the engineering team
- Lead migration from Oracle Forms to APEX applications
- Move on-premise and colo customers to OCI cloud infrastructure
- Build alerting systems and manage on-call rotations for uptime
What you'll need
- Experience leading small engineering teams while shipping code personally
- Ability to make technical decisions with incomplete information
- Senior generalist skills in databases, Linux, networking, and deployment
- Proven track record owning production infrastructure and disaster recovery
- Experience improving codebases with significant technical debt
- History of introducing Git, CI, and code review to established teams
- Daily practical use of AI coding agents in professional work
- Willingness to write PL/SQL, edit scripts, and debug network issues
- Strong written communication for documentation and standards
Nice to have
- Oracle experience including DBA, OCI, APEX, PL/SQL, or Forms
- Background in ERP or long-lived line-of-business software
- Familiarity with SQLcl, Liquibase, utPLSQL, or ORDS
