BJAK is expanding beyond insurance into spending, saving, and travel finance. As a Lead Engineer, you will take technical ownership of complex systems, guiding the team from idea to production. You will design scalable architectures while remaining hands-on with code, reviews, and debugging.
The role requires strong judgment in balancing speed, reliability, and maintainability. You will collaborate with product, design, and AI teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Mentoring engineers and improving development practices are key parts of this position.
What you'll do
- Lead technical design and execution of major engineering initiatives
- Design scalable backend, frontend, API, and infrastructure systems
- Write code, prototype features, and conduct thorough code reviews
- Make architecture decisions balancing speed and reliability
- Mentor engineers and strengthen overall team technical capability
- Monitor production systems and resolve incidents proactively
- Improve engineering tooling and automation for team velocity
What you'll need
- Strong background in building and shipping production systems
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, or distributed systems
- Proven experience leading major engineering projects
- Willingness to remain hands-on with coding and debugging
- Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly
- Strong product sense linking tech to business outcomes
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking ownership
