BJAK is expanding beyond its leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia to help users manage spending, saving, and investing. As a Lead Engineer, you will take technical ownership of complex products, balancing architecture decisions with hands-on implementation.
You will guide engineering initiatives from idea to production, ensuring high standards for code quality, scalability, and reliability. The role requires close collaboration with product, design, and AI teams to ship high-quality financial applications globally.
What you'll do
- Lead technical design and execution for major products and features
- Design scalable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, and infrastructure
- Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping, and debugging
- Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, and reliability
- Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capability across the team
- Review technical designs and provide actionable feedback to peers
- Monitor production systems and resolve root causes of incidents
- Improve engineering tooling and automation to increase team velocity
What you'll need
- Strong software engineering background with production system experience
- Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure
- Proven experience providing technical leadership to other engineers
- Strong system design skills for complex or high-scale systems
- Willingness to remain hands-on with coding and code reviews
- Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly to cross-functional teams
- Strong product sense connecting technical work to business outcomes
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and taking ownership end-to-end
