As the second infrastructure engineer at Atticus, you will shape technical foundations from the ground up. You will treat infrastructure as a product, serving internal engineering teams by building platforms and tooling that enable fast, safe shipping.

This senior individual contributor role reports to the VP of Engineering. You will balance strategic vision with hands-on coding, establishing practices for security, operations, and reliability without layers of abstraction.

What you'll do

  • Build security and operational foundations for sustainable growth
  • Improve system reliability by reducing MTTR and establishing SLOs
  • Create platforms and tools that let product teams own their systems
  • Write code and ship directly alongside the engineering team

What you'll need

  • 5+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering roles
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Pulumi
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and a builder mindset
  • Breadth across networking, security, observability, CI/CD, and databases
  • Experience with consumer-facing, revenue-critical systems

Nice to have

  • Experience leading infrastructure evolution at a growing startup
  • Background working on small teams with fewer than five infra engineers
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguous environments with little structure

Stack

  • GCP
  • Terraform
  • Pulumi

How you'll work

  • Fully remote position with flexibility
  • Quarterly travel to Los Angeles for team gatherings
  • Company-funded offsites and retreats

What you get

  • Base salary between $170,000 and $220,000 plus equity
  • 100% premium coverage for medical and dental insurance
  • 15 vacation days and approximately 20 paid holidays annually
  • Free OneMedical membership
  • $600 annual internet stipend
  • $1,000 annual education and training reimbursement
  • Up to $1,200 annual student loan repayment assistance
  • 401(k) plan with optional HSA or FSA
